What to do now

Stay safe, limit the water damage inside, then request an inspection.

  1. Stay off the roof — wet, icy or storm-damaged roofs are dangerous.
  2. If a ceiling is bulging with water or near lights and sockets, keep people away and switch off power to that area if it is safe.
  3. Put buckets under drips and move belongings away from wet areas.
  4. Photograph damage inside and, from the ground, outside.
  5. Send the request form.
  6. Contact your insurer or landlord; in a major storm the NSW SES (132 500) can help with emergency storm damage.
